UR compared to other states our property taxes are indeed low. However when you net out our tax bill at the state level (property and state income tax) things deteriorate quick. True we are not as grim as New York and some other places back east, but we are not great either.
The state is rife with incompetence at the administrative levels. IMO the state is extremely challenged to provide services to a large population. The largest segment of the population is in a desert, on a regular basis there are calamities mostly due to fires, and the infrastructure of the state is severely challenged. The largest cities have transportation systems that are close to capacity and are consitently being retrofitted or patched with makeshift solutions. The school systems are overcrowded and rank close to the bottom when compared with other states in the union. Finally the state does have to cope with more undocumented citizens then (and this is a guess) any other state in the union.
Still I think they are a bunch of idoits in Sactown but it is a challenging state to manage even in the best of circumstances.
