I’ve been walking 4.5 miles a day. I’m inspired to walk more. I’m thinking 20 brisk miles a day! I could walk to work and back if I could do 20 miles. Figure 4.5 hours a day of walking. Eat during the walk.

I’m doing the exact same thing here. I try to get the S.O. out walking with me, but no dice. I’m not eating while I walk, but I do make sure I do hills as part of the walk. I tend to do the walks when very few people are out, that way I am less likely to run into someone ill on the walk. I used to do quick Iron Mtn, Mt Woodson, or Laguna loop hikes on the weekends – but the trails have been closed.
It it a good way to stay generally healthy.
I do feel good. Not really interested in running nowadays. Just too pounding. Maybe it’s a function of being old, but walking just feels like I could sustain this into old age. Just cruising along. My legs definitely are strengthening up in the ligaments, different than cycling.
I doubt idve serioudly gotten into walking if not for covid19.
I started my 4.5 mile hilly loop at a leisurely 90 minutes, tried to speed up, had a few slo daysand finally broke 60 minutes yesterday, no running, just super brisk walking, actually walking as fast as I could the whole way…. I’m not eating on this walk, I was just th9nking if I walk to work, say 2.5 h each way, I could eat a little meal each way…it would be awesome to be able to complete that some or all days
definitely a challenge and if i had run it, I’d probably need a day to recover, but with walking, I’m good to go the next day, which is super!
I dont feel like I could get injured, like I feel is possible running.
