This is the only country in the world were you get people championing thier own shittyness as if they are somehow pointing a finger at the other American and 4 are not pointing back at them.
GM is us, Ford is us. Those are our cars and the people building them are our fellow workers. We are connected no matter how much we try and act like we are each little economic islands unto ourselves who are so very important that an unscheduled trip to the dealership every 6 months is unthinkable.
What brought about this self-destructive attitude? I’ll go out on a limb and say that every US car sold in the past 30 years provided at least a satisfactory job at getting people from point A to point B. Sure some were better than others but at no time were American roads littered with broken down vehicles with mobs of people stranded on their way to work.
Its all a silly perspective of demanding to not be inconvenienced into going to a dealership once and a while.
Had we been the slightest bit proud of ourselves or as supportive of our industry as other countries around the globe are, we might still have a gigantic manufacturing base instead of blindly following TPTB into service and FIRE economy jobs.
Oh well, at least Obama is actively seeking to give us access to more credit. Why build or earn when we can borrow and send that money to Japan, Germany and Korea? Weeeeeee!
