Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, a Vietnam veteran, 2008 presidential contender and longtime critic of administration policy in Iraq, received applause when he told the secretary of state that the president’s plan is “the most dangerous foreign policy blunder in this country since Vietnam. If it’s carried out, I will resist it.”
