The Lanterns definitely have character but I’ve never lived in that part of town. Some locals have expressed concern about crime in parts of the Lanterns. Of course that’s all relative to the rest of Dana Point 🙂 I can say that parking is pretty tight and there are constant plans to “redevelop” both PCH/Del Obispo and the harbor to their full revenue-generating potential, i.e. turn the place into another Laguna Beach.
