The consumer will keep on spending until he doesn’t have a job anymore. As long as the unemployment rate remains low, I do not expect consumer spending to slow down very much. And because we have a well diversified economy I do not foresee unemployement rising to high levels so consumer spending should continue to chug along.
Most consumers may be living paycheck to paycheck but as long as a paycheck is coming in, they’ll keep on spending.
