Hell no, we are trying to restore it. The previous owner had a… shall we say, eclectic taste. Mostly along the neo-Buddhist new age vein. We’re talking bamboo fans that look like they’re from the Indian Jones ride at Disneyland and gaudy waterfall tub faucets that look like they belong in Graceland’s jungle room. I don’t know what she was thinking. We’ve already undone a lot of her doings, as we’re trying to keep it real, holmes. Not many houses in this hood are in this style. We’re surrounded by Spanish and Craftsman bungalows built 30 years before this house.

You are correct, with taxes and insurance it’s slightly higher, but those are mostly a wash with our increased take home after the interest write-off. The mortgage itself is only a couple hundred bucks more per month than what we were paying for rent in the old place. We put 20% down.
Had our first carne asada in the back yard today. I’m sure the neighbors appreciate the new Mexicans that have moved into their hood!
