My point is that Valparaiso is as much out in the sticks as Murrieta. The further “out” you go, the cheaper houses get. It works like that both here and in Indiana. If you’re willing to commute to Chicago and back every day (120 mile round trip), or you are able to find a job in Valparaiso, a city of 25,000 residents, that pays well enough to afford a $480k house – no reason why you can’t do that in Murrieta.
