surveyor we have to pin our hopes on Bynum… talk about a risk. What the series showed was a few things. First off it is all about team defense and the NBA champs are still determined to be defined by the best team and not the best player. King James and Kobey have showed us that in consecutive years. Defensively the Celtics were just suffocating… The Laker champs of a few years back were scary tough on D. Shaq still was a presence in the middle and they had a defensive toughness about them. The champs of the 80s also played some darn stingy defense as well. They had guys like Rambis and Landsburger who scrapped. The euro lakers evaporated in the series and I was pretty bummed about that. Kobey was routinely double and triple teamed and that game 2 officiating was amazing to watch. I have officially given up on Lamar as he is just to frustrating to me. After game 5 he was out partying… typical Lamar. I take Pau for what he is. A euro who is gonna give you 15 points and can be a steady player but will be average at best on D.
Back to real estate….
nostra/flu – I would definitely take any advice I could get from guys like Surveyor regarding rentals. Guys like him do it full time and have done it for a long long time. As for myself the rentals I have are simply the result of me buying places and outgrowing them and instead of selling, simply holding them. The one rental I did buy specifically to be a rental was a Mission Valley condo back in 02, I sold it in Feb of 07… did okay on it. I do believe that if you want to make good money with regards to rentals, I would still look out of state but that requires some serious diligence. Buying locally can be a good investment but I still would wait or if you guys are going with the lowball strategy then that is good.
As you guys are seeing, the short sales are frustrating. I keep trying to tell people that many short sales already have offers on them. The real hard part about this however is to qualify those offers. Are the buyers still interested? How many are there? What should I come in at? It is really tough to reconcile. Anyways keep plugging away and don’t get discouraged. Also I believe that the housing stock you guys are looking into will definitely definitely have plenty of distressed inventory over the next year and then some.
