Sure, the police officer’s union puts up some money when they’re scared of a cop killer on the loose. But they’d screw the people who found him and reported him, only because they had not themselves been competently “protected and served ” out of that money. Once said cop killer is dead all that money goes back into the donut fund. If for no other reason, they should concede some money to the carjack and hostage victims for screwing them in the first place.
