Still doesn’t explain why the dude didn’t shift into neutral. Maybe he just freaked out when it happened, but the ES doesn’t come with an electronically controlled shifter.
Second, I wonder why the 911 dispatcher didn’t suggest the same thing.
I guess at this point it’s easier to play sideline coaching, but I would hope that 911 dispatchers would be trained to deal with some of these simple things.
I guess using the parking brake to try to slow would have been fruitless if the entire brakes were faded/inoperative, not to mention it would have been virtually impossible in the es350, considering i believe the parking brake is electronically controlled (stupid imho).
Unrelated note…Why people buy BMW 7 series with an idrive system is beyond me.
