Also, at 2.5% for 66 month financing thru a credit union, not sure financing can get too much cheaper…
Scardey, you should be getting a quote closer to invoice versus MSRP. (it’s not uncommon to get $1000+ below invoice on a Honda ). Also, check out the Edmund’s blogs. People will tell you on the blogs what they are seeing out the door recently.
You might do even better in L.A. if you take carwoo’s price and ask an L.A. dealer to beat…They usually are pretty competitive and desperate.
Make sure you get the complete options list of the quoted car. Because you want to compare the percentage discounts off cars. Every car is slightly off in terms of equipment package. And rather than trying to find the same car with same equipment package, you might as well be flexible and settle for either slightly less or slightly more.
Lastly, the Accord is due for a makeover in MY 2013…So there might be even more room to negotiate. I don’t know if you would care or not, but once the 2013 comes out the 2012 will definitely be discounted since the 2013 appears to be a redesign.
Yes scardey, it is possible you can buy a new accord that costs less than a used/certified accord. The difference is on the equipment package and sometimes just how the pricing works. There might be a special factory to dealer incentive to clear a model, like there is now. A lot of cars that are leased/lease returns are fully loaded, which makes up a bulk of the preowned cars….You end up with options that you might not have ever wanted on a preowned. The car you might be picking up new probably has much less options, but then again a lot of people (me included) don’t care to a point. If you don’t mind having less options, new is the way to go imho. If you car about the bells and whistles and want the same price points, well then I guess for some certified/used would be better. And why I don’t understand folks with the blanket statement that say always buy used. It makes sense in some cases. Other times it doesn’t.
Still want to sink $ into that civic dx or fvck with a stripped drain plug? 🙂 Not worth it imho.
