Sorry. I should have been more specific. This is San Diego County, residential property and behind (back) set back. I’m on what I think is called a “half block” so we are already very very close without the new addition being built.
I went to the permit department, but you can’t make a copy of the plans (or take a photo of them) to try to ascertain where the planned building stops and starts.
Good point — Sounds like I need to call them and figure out what the official setback is for my area, measure now that they have marked off the new building area, and call compliance IF it is not the right amount.
This is probably a silly question, but I don’t believe someone could get a permit for something if it did not meet regulations. And, if they get a permit, there are inspections, correct? So, how could they get away with it?
The sassy lady who helped me at the permit office simply said that people can and do encroach all of the time?
