so far the flu is still a bigger killer in the US and it will be interesting to see how the US health system handles this.
We might be a lot better way to handle this , not just because of the technology but simply we don’t have as large a population.
And worst comes to worst, you could quarantine all Asian people and let god sort us out. The concern some parents are having is kids has a lot of friends that are also chinese, and they have a lot of relatives and their friends and their relatives. Some probably were in central China or will be coming back from Central China….My kid was suppose to go hang out with a friend and I git a call from a parent that asked me “have you been to central China, or have anyone else you live with been”
I laughed and said no, and apologized for laughing because I was tempted to ask the parent the same question but thought it might be rude. Their kids are home because they took them out of Chinese school this week and next week..They need to make things for school, and parents asked if it was ok to go to a craft store in Poway instead of Hobby Lobby in Mira Mesa because they don’t want to go where there are a lot of Asian people. Again, insort of chuckled because even though I think that’s pretty extreme, I can understand this germaphobia reaction. And the funny part is…they are from mainland china originally. So maybe it’s an over reaction. Or maybe Chinese parents here don’t trust the Chinese government in what they say. it seems like they are slowly changing their tune and now saying it’s far more contagious than it was previously disclosed. Nice.
Conspiracy theorist says that using a virus as biological weapon would be very effective come to think about it. Infect a bunch of students studying in the US with a highly contagious virus that doesn’t show symptoms for 2-3 weeks over holiday, return to school and infect everyone else….I doubt this was planned or deliberate but it would be pretty effective if it was deliberate.
