flu, any dealers call you back yet about the price on the GXPs yet?
Yes… It seems like they’re desperate to sell G3/G6’s (too much glut) and even a G8 GT, but not willing to lower the price of a G8 GXP beyond MSRP-$4k tops on the GXP. Since GM is throwing in a factory rebate of $3k, this really means that dealers aren’t willing to sell below MSRP. They’re much more willing to haggle over the GT version…A few obviously aren’t happy with the Pontiac decision.
Oh well. I was only considering this specific high powered GM car if the price was a really good deal mainly because it was an Australian Holden and not your typical GM fwd you now what….even though it weighs a beefy 4000+lbs. Without dealers budging, OTD + the conversion kit to transform the ugly frontend of the GXP back to a Holden would push the price to $40k…And frankly I’m not willing to spend $40k on a GM/Chrysler (ford *maybe*)…particular one that is about to be discontinued. You wonder why GM is having such problems. Even BMW M3’s and Merc C63’s are NOT going for MSRP in this economy. And these companies aren’t exactly being discontinued…
Oh well. Just as some folks are reserved to waiting until the home bottoms some more, I’m waiting for automakers to bottom some more….
Scarlet, again… This “our” car thing is ridiculous.
G3 is a rebadged Aveo made in Mexico
G8 is a rebadged Australian Holden
…And IF Fiat ends up going through with the Chrysler deal, Chrysler is no longer a U.S. “our” car company…Majority stake goes to Fiat an so do the profits. You could argue that well it employs US workders. But that again is no different than BMW/Toyota/Honda/Nissan setting up factories here.
Chrysler will as American as MG cars are British
(the latter owned by a chinese auto manufacturer)….in nostalgia brand name only.
…Also that’s assuming the Fiat deal will even go through….I wouldn’t be surprised if Fiat ends up grabbing Opel from GM and shafting Chrysler.
