Sheesh, people are too picky. Can’t find a four-star hotel? Stay in a motel or in a hostel-type hotel with a bathroom in the hallway.
We went to a conference in the DC area last year. Price of the conference hotel: $175/night. Price of an older hotel in the city itself: $80/night.
It was a 1* hotel by amenities, but well rated. Really nice staff, garden out back, clean rooms, great area with ability to walk to get food, but the bathroom and shower were shared and in the hall.
