Conform? Can’t be original? Please.
Yes, there are certain things you cannot do. It’s intentional, because while you might think your original thinking is grand – everyone else on the block might disagree.
Want to do whatever you feel like, and are happy for your neighbors to do the same? Don’t buy into an HOA.
Want the general scheme of the neighborhood to be kept, the parks maintained, no RVs in front of your house, no satellite dishes on every roof, no cars parked on the front lawn, no crazy paint jobs, etc? An HOA might be attractive.
You wouldn’t be upset if your neighbor painted their house hot pink, their fence snot green, put a car up on blocks on the front lawn, and a 30 foot satellite dish in their backyard?
I’ve seen some crazy stuff driving around looking for houses. You might like your neighbors style today… you might not your next, and good luck selling if you live next to the circus.[/quote]
I didn’t buy into an HOA area and I’ll try my hardest to not buy into one in the future.
The park near me is maintained, so I’m not sure what you’re talking about there.
I don’t mind the RV, satellite dish (I have one myself, it’s saving me quite a bit of money over cable), my neighbor has a car parked on the front lawn. Those things didn’t bother me. Wasn’t the prettiest thing to the eye, but it’s his property, he can do whatever he wants to it. Some would think blue, grey, green to be crazy paint jobs. Once again, I don’t care about that either. It’s their house, they can do whatever they want to it. As long as my house looks good to me.
You might like to control what your neighbors do to/with/in their house, but I frankly don’t care. I rather they don’t car what I do to/with/in my house as well. Like I said, different stroke for different folks. There are plenty of people who are just like you and bought/buy in 4S and other similar area. There are also plenty of people who are just like me who bought in MM and similar area because there’s no HOA.
If I bought next to a circus, I’m sure I would have gotten it at a much lower price than if I bought it in 4S, so when I need to sell it, I wouldn’t expect it to sell for the price of a 4S house either.
BTW, here’s the definition of conform:
– follow standard: to comply with a fixed standard, regulation, or requirement
– be or make similar: to be the same as or very similar to something or somebody, or make something similar
I dare you to be original in 4S and paint your house any color other than shades of beige/brown.
