The argument that putting people in jail for smoking does not justify or make it okay to legalize pot.
The question should be does the argument they used for criminalizing it justify criminalizing it? Racism, employment for unemployed prohibition police, giving DuPont an unfair market advantage. Doesn’t convince me that it should be criminalized
It does not help you drive better, it does not make you more alert, it does lead to more drugs, it does deaden you emotionally and slow you down physically.
In the time I’ve been consuming Cannabis I have been offered many different drugs, I use to go to Raves in the late 90s where they had all types of drugs and never even experimented because I made the choice. I don’t buy the gateway drug argument for a second, however if there was a drug which impaired judgment of the user and may lead to experimentation that would not occur when sober I would think alcohol would be a more likely culprit. It leads to more fights, date rapes and crimes than cannabis ever did.
Homer Simpson said it best:
“Oh, I’m in no condition to drive. Wait a minute. I don’t have to listen to myself. I’m drunk.”

All use could be considered for legitimate health issues
I don’t want my kids exposed to it. I don’t want them associating with anyone who does it. I don’t want thier teachers to do it, thier bus driver, or any other adults they are exposed to. Don’t give me a line about how people who smoke sit at home and don’t affect anyone elses life because they DO NOT. They go out, they drive, they endanger other people.
As good as your intentions are I doubt you will have any control over what your kids are exposed to in their lifetimes, best thing to do is instill good judgment and values in them and be there as their friend and adviser. I’m sure they would be more likely to come to you for advice when the time comes if they trust that you won’t react negatively to their behavior. I doubt either of our parents wanted us exposed to it and by our own admission we both have been exposed to it. Was it legal? No. Did we have bad parents? No, it’s just the world we live in.
I am a realist and will have to deal with the world my kids will be exposed to. I understand that. However, it is NOT a reality to think people just smoke and do no other drugs, and do nothing at all. They do go to work high, they do drive high, they do plenty of things high and that ENDANGERS MY LIVELIHOOD.
As mentioned before people doing other drugs are their own choices and are probably more heavily influenced by the company they keep and alcohol than by Cannabis. Personally I would rather see law enforcement going after drunk drivers who would pose a much greater threat than anyone who had smoked.

You got that right! I doubt many people were high on anything when they signed their loan documents. (I had to bring it back to real estate somehow)
