… but i think this is actually a historic event, maybe bigger than 9/11. the end of politics as we knew it.
Yes it is historic. It definitely says the Republican party is on the move. I have been of the opinion that the Rep party would splinter so badly it would need reconstructing with some new type of coalition…but maybe I’m wrong. Maybe Trump deconstructed it in one fell swoop and can reconstruct it in the next four years. New theory of mine, it may not hold water.
Another thing pointed out on TV last night – America has a history of giving one party the Presidency for a couple of terms, then going to the other party. Probably because those out of power get so frustrated they’ll all get behind anything that is halfway of their stripe. I think there is a great deal of that going on here too.
But it runs deeper…the Rep voters didn’t go with an establishment candidate, they went off the board. No matter what his warts are, they wanted a fresh start. Were they right in going that direction? I’m not convinced, but I’ve certainly been wrong before…as I said last night, willing to give him a chance. After all, what choice do I have? 🙂
