RICHMOND — Beginning July 1, it will be okay for motorcyclists and bicyclists and moped drivers to go through a red light.
Sensors under the roadway can’t detect the two-wheelers, so the law is intended to have stoplights treated light stop signs.
The new law allows two-wheel vehicles to pass through as long as there’s no oncoming traffic and after either waiting 120 seconds at a red light or waiting for two light cycles.
The two-wheelers, however, must yield to oncoming traffic that is actually going on the green
