As I imagined myself standing there trying to figure it out the smell of apple pies hit me over my left shoulder. Would that be right? You were closer to Julian than I-8?
The scene reminds me a bit of looking over the Carrizo badlands from the trail that goes to the wind caves, except from that the vantage point you would be standing in sandstone rubble and surrounded by Ocotillos instead of that scrub. Very desolate views from there.
