The problem is that too many don’t actually see this as a humiliation. And for those that this was the final straw, you really have to ask, why did you accept “Mexicans are rapists”? Birtherism? Muslim ban? All the rest of his racist screeds? Why is it only when he says something outrageous about a white woman are you actually outraged?
The fact is, the assault that Trump described is what the Republican party has been doing for 40 years to women. Rather than grabbing women with their hands, they’ve grabbed women through legislation. The language he used might be a little more personal, a little more outrageous. But the outcome is just the same.
