Well. he definitely seems to have the personality of getting people to hate and get others to feel it’s ok and excusable. There is one other person that was able to do that.
Hitler.
White people have nothing to worry about. Lucky you.
God help the rest of us.
Actually no, Hitler and Trump are not the only ones able to get people to follow and hate. This ability in fact is quite formulaic- google research authoritarian personalities and their followers.
I finally figured out Trump’s one redeeming quality- he is opposed by the Koch brothers.
The biggest problem I have with Trump isn’t Trump himself. It’s with a good percentage of his supporters that are itching to ship people who aren’t white “back home”.
I also have a big problem with Trump playing into the hands of people who are just mad and don’t want to future themselves and want to look for a scapegoat for all of the social and economic plight.
And I’m not even talking about illegal aliens. There’s this current of backlash against tech workers, specifically Indians and to a lesser extent, asians. Part of this is animosity against H1-B programs. The problem is many of these Trump supporters blame indians and to a lesser extent asians as the source of all their joblesness problem. I don’t get it.
This country really haven’t “progressed” as are misled to believe. When in doubt, when your in a financial rut, blame someone that isn’t white on all of your problems.
That seems to me to be a very effective platform for winning votes in this country. No one seems to really care about working hard toward achieving something anymore. And this comes from both “progressives” and “conservatives”. I really don’t see a difference in how both parties and politicians from both parties operate.
To say the least, I’m somewhat disillusioned and disappointed with the direction this country is headed. Everyone is a victim, and it’s never one’s own fault or one own’s life choices anymore.
I find there is a sense of irony. When “progressives” were running around this country beating the drum about how african americans had a severe social and economic disadvantage in this country, a lot of the folks from the conservative states would say something like “it’s not because your black, it’s because you lack education/skill/training etc” and “stop playing the victim card”.
Now fast forward to the current environment. They are the same people that now saying, the reason why I can’t get a tech job is because I’m white, and all the damn indians and asians are stealing “our jobs”…Trump do something about that…Ok, who’s playing the victim card now?
This country is now run by fear and hate. Both parties have discovered it’s a much better way to get votes than actually trying to do something productive to move the country forward. That’s why our political landscape swings so far to the left and so far to the right every 8 years or so. Because one party’s agenda is to stroke extreme fear and hate on the other side when the other side is in charge, that the next election cycle, the pendulum swings widely in the opposite direction the next cycle.
There are no moderates, there are no sane people left who can influence the direction of people in this country, which exactly what this country needs to move forward.
