My wife agrees with the idea that these kids feel “duped”. I agree that if many of them took on debt to get to the “promised land” of big homes and beemers, they are in a big jam. Some of them will get jobs up to the task of paying that debt off and some won’t I guess.
Whoever told them all those bullstuff promises should be in big trouble.I think the kids have some responsibility for listening and for being disappointed. Not everybody does. I also think their appetites and the frustration of same is a personal problem to deal with. Whatever happend to the thought “nothing comes with a guarantee”? Caveat emptor? What I think these kids learned most is that you can fight for and protect your ascent on the socio- economic ladder with politics.
I can’t help it if I feel they should be a little more humble, philosophical and considerate of alternatives to solving their problems than bitching about not having it like their parents did. I do feel bad for them having the role of transitional generation in this regard…if that is how things turn out.
