My take on it is that if you find a steady job or have a business near Temecula, it makes sense to buy a house there. If you’re gonna be commuting from Temecula to San Diego — 90-110 miles r/t, at say 25 cents per mile in an efficient car, then you’ll be spending $25 per day including wear-and-tear and fuel.
That’s $500+/mo, or about $100k of house value at current rates, plus the time you’ll never get back, never get to see your wife and kids. I’m guessing 1.5-2 hr each way with traffic north of SD being what it is.
That kind of commute is like me living near the Pennsylvania border and driving into NYC. It can be done, people do it, but why do it unless you’re a glutton for punishment?
