My fancy ivy league pedigree paid for by my folks made my mom very angry that I was sending my kid to SDSU. Hell I wouldn’t even let him apply anywhere expensive. She felt like I was being a cheapskate and not paying forward what I got.
The kid was cool with that. Kids are OK with some direction.
