More general, not RE related, and not sure about some other people here, but since I don’t travel much now with kids, I just use the DSLR with a zoom lens since you can get shots from much farther away…It just makes taking any shot easier since you don’t have to “fight” with all the other parents with their ipads (that always looks weird), iphones, etc…trying to take a shot.
It’s heavier, but having a zoom is pretty priceless I’ve noticed now.
I think they make some high zoom expandable point and shoots now as well so maybe that’s a good option.
