Maybe terrace or partially terrace it? I like terraces, or at least one level as a transition at the bottom of a hill that abuts usable outdoor space. If the hill falls downward level fill and then a border before it drops off looks good to me. Could be planting beds, a retaining wall or a short fence. Then, whatever is on the otherside of the transition looks good to me.
