He wants to eliminate all foreign aid.

What point is foreign aid when we can trade with somebody like China and make them our friends? We trade with Vietnam and they are our friends now. We get used and abused when we start issuing foreign trade.

You’re kidding here, right? Are you even aware why a lot of China industries are able to “compete”? They are funded by Chinese government dollars!!!! There is NO FREE TRADE WITH CHINA….. China imposes hefty import duties….Same as japan, same as every other asian country that you think we have a “free trade” with….
Please marky, do some research, will you? Either that or stick to poker, please…..
The tension between America and China over international trade escalated on Wednesday when Beijing imposed additional duties on cars imported from the United States.
China’s commerce ministry accused America’s car industry of “dumping and subsidising”, thereby causing substantial damage to China’s domestic car industry. From Thursday, levies will be charged on larger-engined cars from several manufacturers, some being European firms with factories in the US.
Do you even know why when cnooc tried to take over Unocal, why it was such a big deal?
CNOOC is not the “free enterprise private” corporation you think about… CNOOC, like many many big companies in China with deep deep pockets ARE STATE OWNED COMPANIES FUNDED BY THE GOVERNMENT.
And there’s an huge explanation why China companies are the leaders in green tech too.
Chip fabs in China… Same thing. Heavily state owned/funded
China’s Auto industries. Same thing… Chery Automotive is stated owned…And there are approximately 16 state owned auto companies that are working on EV funded by the government…
The list goes on and on and on.
You are grossly underestimating the complexity of foreign trade, foreign company ownership…
Part of the issues we have in the US is trade is so fvcking lopsided is because we’re so fvcking soft when it comes to equal trade.
*We don’t tax near enough on imports while the rest of the world taxes heavily on imports.
*When the economy is sucking wind, the rest of the world protects their own citizens first by sending expats packing to preserve their own kind’s jobs (IE japan). In our country, we ship our jobs overseas due to cheap labor first….And pay our ceo’s bonuses for doing it. I never had complained about outsourcing in my line of work, because frankly I’ve always felt that you just need to be the best… But you cannot deny that there is at least some of this shit going on….
When I go to the fcking grocery store, and even something as simple as garlic cloves says its from China, there’s something fvcked up about “free trade”.
It can’t be a free market if the U.S. advertises a “free trade” policy when the rest of the world has a protectionist spirit…Then it’s not called free trade…It’s called the U.S. being a fvcking doormat.
Imho, we don’t need to drop things and allow free/unregulated trade…U.S. stands to loose big time. We’re the number 1 consuming nation…If at all we should leverage on that and give the rest of the world and China the big middle finger and slap on import duties left and right until it really becomes free trade.
I don’t blame China for our problems. Our problem is that our frickin government does such a shitty job protected itself when every other country is doing a great job milking us for everything we got.
