….. Another thing I don’t get is the timing of the IPO. Why now and not between October-April?
I don’t think underwriters were counting on the Greece debacle, and probably when they filed, the economy looks like it was just starting to recover…

No, I was referring to the old adage of “sell in May and go away” and not the Greece thing. I guess the process of filing an IPO is long and laborious so MS went with whatever earliest date they could. Here’s a list of a few companies with a global name recognition and its market cap:
ebay: $51B
amzn: $98B
nike: $49B
dis: $79B
Does anyone here thinks FB is in the same class as these? Name recoginition-wise, yes. But product-wise is a definite no.
Actually, I didn’t think May would have turned out *that* bad this year if it wasn’t for the greece thing…But that’s just me… And no, I don’t think FB is worth more than disney/nike/amazon…Maybe ebay, but that’s because I just hate ebay 🙂
But you know what? For me I’m a great indicator of when a company has a good product. Because generally, I’m the cheapest, simplest, non-frills type of person.. If I end up getting something or using something, it really had to ruffle my feathers significantly.
I’m an amazon user, google user, and though I don’t personally use an ipad/iphone, I have given them as gifts and I use a macmini..And as much as I hate ebay sometimes, I use them occasionally…
Facebook…never used.
But anyway, folks have started agreeing with you about valuation..Well, apparently, Morgan Stanley agrees with you even before they went public…
