Lets work on the assumption that many Prop 8 supporters subscribe to: Homosexuality is a choice. I personally don’t think it is, but lets go with that premise for the sake of argument. If homosexuality is a choice, and your child can decide whether he/she wants to be homo/heterosexual, shouldn’t it come down to parenting, regardless of what they’re taught in school?
An analogy: It is a choice whether or not your child takes drugs, despite whatever drug eduaction they receive in school. Are you going to blame the schools if your child chooses to take drugs? Or should we blame bad parenting?
If homosexuality is a choice, and your child chooses to become a homosexual, that is a family issue between the parent and the child. Don’t try to blame the school for your lack of parenting.
If your child chooses to become a homosexual, it is no more the school’s fault than if your child chooses to take drugs. Take some accountability for your children, don’t blame schools. It seems to me that the school argument in respect to Prop 8 is nothing more than passing the buck.
