Is there a list of the specific lab tests each will require? Do they all require the same standard tests or are they different?
Unfortunately, I had a parent die of a heart attack very young, so I think I will need near perfect lab results to get a good rate.[/quote]
When I had mine done through MetLife about 5 years ago, they basically took my blood pressure, took my height and weight, and drew a sample of blood and ran through standard blood tests that I think are similar to what you get your physical exam. I’m pretty sure they look at your medical history/records too..
Though, if you’ve done any sort of genetic testing, that information supposedly is generally off limits from insurance co’s…
You don’t need perfect lab results to get a group rating. The only thing that would most likely happen is your premiums would be up or down based on multiple criteria (men’s insurance in general is already more than women’s)
That said, if you’re in a boat in which you have a boatload of pre-existing condition, you might have no choice but to get some sort of group coverage without prescreen/etc….For example, AAA offers some coverage without prescreening up to a certain limit.
Don’t skim on insurance, especially if you’re young… I found out I had a boatload of health issues after I got life insurance. I’m thankful I got my life insurance early before it all happened. My only regret is I didn’t buy enough back then.
