Just wanted to update this one, in case anyone was interested. I was extremely surprised by the closing price. 638 21st St sold on 05/18/2010 for 160k.
So I guess if there really was a bid for 404k they must have had a change of heart and reconsidered. And I guess all the other bids up to 404k also reconsidered.
I found this whole auction thing frustrating. I would have considered this property, but once someone tells me the latest bid is 404k, then I write it off. I certainly would have tossed my hat in the ring for less, and probably greater than 160k.
Anyway, makes me think the bids up to 404k were BS or shill.
In any case, someone picked up a pretty great deal at 160k, IMO. Won’t be shocked to see a fix and flip on it.
