jp, I forgot where I read it but a writer was calling modern family units an abomination because men want to go about and procreate with as many women as possible while women want to procreate with men who will stick around and provide for the family. It’s quite a contradiction. I am no anthropologist but think that humans are slow to develop– it takes many years– and need nurturing/protection from both parents during development so it seems natural for people to be monogamous, or if not at least have all your wives and kids living together in one place… like some do.
