I’ve worked the numbers forward, backward, sideways, up, down … and in my own situation I can’t find a way to make solar pay off in less than 10 years, even figuring in tax breaks, incentives, and assuming continuous increases in the cost of electricity.
In short, I’m not enough of an energy hog to go green.
Then I found this analysis of the Million Solar Roofs initiative from 2007 … Prices have dropped somewhat since then but I think the conclusions still have some merit.
