It seems that idiot SUV owners are going broke paying for gas and the entire gaggle of these morons is trying to unload these monstrosities at once. Not surprisingly, they're finding it difficult to find another greedy dimwit to take the unpractical, resource-hogging land boats off their hands.
I hope all of these morons take a huge collective bath. These people have been wasting resources and unnecessarily destroying the environment for years because they deemed it their God-given right to do so. I wonder how many of these nitwits are Bush voters? Probably greater than 90% I would imagine.
Actually there is sort of a misconception about all SUVs. Some actualy are pretty decently efficient.
Take my wife's Acura SUV versus my car.
Her car is a 6 cylinder 3.5 liter engine.
Mine is a turbocharged in line 4 cylinder.
Guess which is getting better gas mileage?
Yup, my wife gets about 18miles/20miles. I do about 16miles/18miles.
Just because one has a larger engine doesn't equate to better gas mileage. I can tell you much of what has to do is driving style.
I'm heavy footed, and routinely drive hard, and let my car idle for 2 minutes prior to shutting down (to cool the turbo). I'm doing more damage to the environment. Some of the latest SUVs are rated 25mpg average.
People are more likely to get hard hit paying for premium gas from a lot of these cars than anything else.
Frankly, with an toddler, I wouldn't consider putting my kid in a smaller car most of the time for long road trips. SUV with the child seat tethered in in the center of the second row seat is the only place I'd put her most of the time. Despite car safety technology, bigger cars usually still wins.
