It appears to me that Mercedes’ strategy the last decade or so has been to come up with a plethora of designs and cycle them rapidly to keep one step ahead of the Japanese luxury brands who come right on their heels, copy their designs and slap their badges on.
Mercedes haven’t focused so much on quality as freshness. And it has worked – I can’t drive a block without seeing a Mercedes…something I don’t think I could say 20 years ago.
