Isn’t part of the problem with IT that people without degrees can perform many high level positions? I have a friend who works right below the V.P. of that dept. for a fairly large company. He does not have a degree and has said that half of the people below him also do not, but that most of them could do his job. I am not nay saying anything anyone has posted, just reflecting some observations. There have always been dead end jobs and “glass ceilings”. He said consultants can make way more but they have to travel extensively. That was a few years back.
