Intel is one of the few companies that acquires a company and does not seem to immediately close down the local facility and transfer the few people it needs up north.
Anyway from what I have seen in L.A.
During the last Tech bubble SV companies bought up most of the local mid size companies (competition) down here and closed them down, There were a lot more Tech companies in L.A. before the boom than after.
It was somewhat devastating to the Tech Job market in L.A. it took a long time to recover.
