Imo, per usual, all of the candidates are selling promises to the masses upon which they can’t deliver–and the masses on both sides of the spectrum are buying into the rhetoric in spades. This definitely speaks to a level of desperation in this country beyond any I’ve ever seen in my lifetime.
Granted, individual politicians can affect change by minute degree, but nothing close to the magnitude of the promises that are being made, when you take the system of checks and balances among the three branches of government into consideration. People must have forgotten we don’t live under the rule of monarchy.
It’s sad to watch all of the conflict fueled by selling these empty
promises–again, on both sides–paired with the desperation of so many people who actually believe any politician can change their lives in any meaningful way.
