I’m self-employed and received several 1099-misc’s for 2009. I never really looked closely at them but I did just now. Some of my 1099s have box 3 checked and some have box 7 checked. In my case, all of these 1099s will be reported on my Schedule C.
If your kid’s 1099 had box 3 checked, where would he report that income?
