I forwarded her post to the St. V in Lake Elsinore and will call tomorrow to check up.
What we do when get a call is go to the house and speak to them in person. If they are unable to work because of illness we check medical records, if they can’t pay an electric bill we ask to see that.
Unfortunately about half of the calls that we get are scammers, so we try to weed them out. Most of the legitimate cases are found by friends and neighbors who call in for the people. The people who are really in need are usually the last ones to call in because they don’t want to take charity.
