I’ll chime in late here..I don’t know about Kaiser but it seems to me these day getting decent healthcare anywhere is harder to do.
I’ve tried Sharp, which supposedly use to be good. I’ve tried Scripps, which supposedly is to be good to.
All in all, it seems like PCP’s these days are much more quantity focused rather than quality focused, probably due to the demands of insurance companies and limiting costs/fees.
As such I regularly feel that doctors seem to prescribe a lot more frequently than spending time diagnosing. For example, over this past year, I’ve gone in over a few times for what I suspected was stomach virus, in which case I wasn’t holding anything for 5-7 days. When I get to the doc’s office, they basically put me on antibiotics and send me off without doing really much of any other test.
The other thing..I have a PPO.I have no payroll deductions that my employer makes me pay, and the co-pays are pretty cheap. However, unless I’m physically in a lot of pain, finding a doc to want to see me within a week’s notice is extremely difficult.
