If you can avoid worrying too much about black swans and such, always having enough to pay the bills and cover (more normal) emergencies and never worrying about the rent is less stressful than not having any money. I don’t know how much more can be said for it than that.
I think having tens of billions would be stressful. I would feel an obligation to figure out just the right way to help. Should I be fighting, say, malaria, like Bill Gates? Should I promote societies that promote justice and equality like George Soros? There are countless ways to make a relatively significant difference if you have that much money. And you get to / have to pick.
