I would definitely work to get a copy of the lease. Perhaps deliver the next rent check in person – and hold the check till you have a copy of the lease. If the landlord can’t produce it – conveniently have a standard lease – pre filled out with the existing terms – ready to go.
Passive aggressive, maybe, but it takes away excuses.
