i was kinda kidding about the “bets left to prfessionals’ comment. but rationally, economically, we’d be poor today if we’d sacrified work for child care. credit would be shot. careers way back. earnings lower. less able to pay for stuff now. i think just crunching numbers, day care was the way to go, esp. since she didn’t want to be with them, and men, by their very nature, on balance are not intended by the unvierse to be with children all day.
reaosnable minds may differ, but i think it’s true. you wont persuade me otherwise with anecdotes about great stay at home dads…
I acknowledge this is a hot-button issue for me and I am not completely rational about it. I feel pure animal fear when i hear it. i think this is one of those areas where if you ahven’t personally experienced chaos, it’s difficult to get beyond the intellectual arguemtns and feel how stressed out a couple babies with no plan what to do with them can be.
and yeha, i guess it’s all my fault.
but i blame her for being so cute and persuasive about the virtues of family…
resist that urge to reproduce and buy a house, boys! unless you are loaded and she just loes staying home withkids..
