i told my kids im a cog ina big machine, but im sort of a free spinning cog that just whirrs around without actually connecting to anything, kind of an extra pointless cog. and that’s how they refer to me, a free-spinning cog. you don’t want to be the kind of cog that gets ground down by the neighboring cog.
