I thought that by being a renter in La Jolla and driving a Subaru, that I was just smart and thrifty. DZ, thanks for pointing out the error of my ways.
I always knew that we were unusual on our street: American flag flying, church-going, gun-owning, one of the few Republicans (I’m the Republican precinct representative in my neighborhood, one of the ‘get out the vote’ guys; only 15-20% in my neck of the woods were on my list to go chat with). Now I know why: I’m just a (cat)fish out of water.
Yep, lots of BMWs, Mercedes, big Lexii, and Land Rovers on our street. I expect that will change over the next three-to-five years. Or, heck, maybe DZ is right, that my smarter, wealthier, more highly-degreed neighbors know something that I don’t.
