I think there is nothing wrong with hedging your bets. Very pro-education and professional achievement, but keeping a farm suitable for several families and self sufficiency too. If you are barely going to squeak by, do it while having a reasonably good life rather than a slave in the stultifying “service economy” or someone equally shutdown on welfare.
