I take this as another sign that it just may be that we’ve reached equilibrium. A lot of the more conservative and bearish piggs are starting to buy. I wont say congratulations because you asked us to use that word, but I wish you didn’t feel the hint or remorse that I detect in your words. I think you may be experiencing what I did, which is common once you start aiming at a moving target. Think back, what did you seek when you started this quest? Would it have seemed out of reach to get this house at this price with this interest rate on that day when you first started looking? You got what you started out looking for if you harken back just a few years, you might have gotten even more than you originally set out to find. It’s possible that the mindset during the bubble is happening to you but in reverse. Because things have been on the decline for a while now, it feels they always will head that way, yet we all know things never stay the same forever. Look at the big picture, you will have a place of your own, a happy relationship, a compromise that you can be proud of, a great fixed rate and a payment that you can afford. This part of your life is now less dependant on the inevitable winds of change. You’ve been at this for years, you have the knowledge and the power to never lose at this game again and now you get a garden and a deserved break. Peace has a value, remorse doesn’t. But look at walter, he bought and his process felt like we were watching someone give birth, lots of screaming and blood and he was sure it would all end badly. Ask him right now and he’d probably tell you his remorse and fear have begun to fade. Most pigs do, they feel that no matter when they buy, priced will fall immediately after they do. Those feelings are normal and they will pass. Everything happens for a reason and every journey has a purpose, if I may quote Paulo Coehlo, “when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.”
You’ve always been one of my favorite writers, paint and gardening will consume a chunk of your time moving forward, but do come back on occasion, share your experinces and teach others. Congratulations, oops, I said it.
